Volunteer Etsy & Market Assistant

(Better Pathways – Social Enterprise & Wellbeing Project)

Location:

Better Pathways, Birmingham (201-206 Alcester Street, Digbeth, B12 0NQ) – with occasional market/event attendance

Role Type:

Volunteer (Flexible hours – ideally 2 days per week), minimum commitment of 6 months.


Role Description:

Better Pathways is a Birmingham-based mental health and employment support charity, and we’re looking for a creative and organised Volunteer Etsy & Market Assistant to support our team in running our online Etsy store and helping with community market stalls.

This role would be ideal for someone who is passionate about crafts, social enterprise, or marketing – and wants to gain hands-on experience while supporting a meaningful cause.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Upload, manage, and update products on our Etsy shop
  • Write engaging product descriptions, manage tags and titles, and optimise listings for visibility
  • Assist in marketing and advertising products using Etsy tools and social media
  • Help prepare, pack, and dispatch customer orders
  • Support at community markets and events (stall setup, customer engagement, product display)
  • Work with service users involved in creating handmade items
  • Maintain stock records and support light admin


Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using the Etsy platform – including uploading products, managing listings, and using marketing features
  • Familiarity with online advertising or product promotion (Etsy Ads, tags, SEO, or social media)
  • Good written communication and attention to detail
  • Reliable, organised, and creative
  • Passionate about crafts, wellbeing, or social enterprise
  • Sensitive to the needs of people with lived experience of mental health challenges
