Join our Blues Go Green initiative as a Volunteer Composter. Help care for the composting area and learn practical skills while supporting the environment.
Do you enjoy being outdoors and want to do your bit for the environment? Birmingham City FC Foundation is looking for a Volunteer Composter to support its Blues Go Green initiative.
You’ll help turn food and garden waste into useful compost, supporting more sustainable practices across the Foundation.
What you’ll be doing
As a Volunteer Composter, you’ll help with the regular care and maintenance of the composting area. This will include:
- Turning and mixing compost using a shovel or fork
- Adding and managing compostable materials
- Moving and lifting compost and other materials as needed
- Checking that the composting process is working effectively
- Keeping the composting area tidy and well maintained
The role will take a maximum of around 1½ hours every two weeks, making it a manageable volunteering opportunity alongside other commitments.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need previous composting experience – full training will be provided.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is interested in sustainability and reducing waste
- Is reliable and able to commit to around 1½ hours every two weeks
- Is comfortable working outdoors
- Has a reasonable level of physical strength and fitness, as the role involves using a shovel and lifting and moving materials
- Is happy getting their hands dirty!
- Can follow basic health and safety guidance
