Volunteer Grant Writer – Bladder Health UK
Are you an enthusiastic and skilled funding grant writer?
Join Bladder Health UK, the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting people living with bladder illness. For over 30 years, we’ve provided trusted information, expert advice, and a compassionate listening ear to thousands of people facing pain, isolation, and confusion. But the need for our services is growing — and we need your help to secure vital funding.
What will you be doing?
We are looking for volunteer Grant Writers to help us research funding opportunities and write compelling bids that will enable us to maintain and grow our essential services — from our national Advice Line and Specialist Nurse support to patient education resources, webinars, and awareness campaigns.
As a volunteer Grant Writer, you will:
- Research and identify suitable trusts and foundations
- Advise on a strategy for prioritising bids to maximise success
- Create and manage a grant deadline calendar
- Write tailored, high-quality funding bids and supporting documents
- Develop a strong case for support and gather relevant evidence
- Draft impact stories and case studies to strengthen applications
- Help shape a Trusts and Foundations strategy to diversify our income
- Build and maintain relationships with funders
- Review feedback on applications to improve future submissions
If you are experienced in grant writing or simply love research and persuasive writing, we would love to hear from you.
What are we looking for?
- Experience in grant writing or project proposal writing (desirable but not essential)
- Excellent writing, research, and editing skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to work remotely
- Ability to understand the needs of our organisation and those we support
- Open to feedback and collaborative working
Knowledge of charity funding culture or fundraising networks would be an advantage.
What difference will you make?
Bladder illness is one of the most misunderstood and under-prioritised areas of healthcare — yet it affects millions of people across the UK and is recognised as a disability. Many sufferers live in daily pain, feel dismissed by the healthcare system, and struggle to access timely treatment or support.
Your work will help ensure our Advice Line stays open, our Specialist Nurses are there to listen, and our education and campaigning work continues to drive change. By helping us secure funding, you’ll play a crucial role in giving thousands of people hope, clarity, and the support they deserve.
