About Can Do 4:13
CAN DO 4:13 is a charitable company (reg number 1141676) which was established in 2011 to:
- help needy people in the Parish of Aston and Nechells;
- encourage Christians to live out the teachings of Jesus as they relate to community development and community cohesion;
- promote religious and racial harmony.
As well as expressing a “can do” mentality, the name has other significance. CAN stands for ‘Communities of Aston and Nechells’, ‘DO’ stands for ‘Dreams and Opportunities.’ 4:13 relates to a verse from the Bible which expresses our reliance on Jesus, ‘I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.’ (Philippians 4:13)
CAN DO 4:13 is responsible for the day to day running of Aston & Nechells Foodbank.
Under the charity’s heading they operate the Aston and Nechells Foodbank. Aston & Nechells Foodbank is a project founded by local churches and community groups working together to stop hunger across Aston, Nechells, and Washwood Heath in Birmingham. Since opening in November 2011, we have distributed over 100 tonnes of food donated by the community and supporters. We serve areas with some of the highest unemployment rates in
the UK, where over 11% of residents claim universal credit. Our entirely volunteer-run organisation operates three distribution centres and a warehouse, supported by over 100 regular volunteers from our diverse, multi-ethnic communities.
