Detailed description
Purpose of the Role
As a Support Work Admin Support Volunteer, you will assist the Young Carers team by taking responsibility for routine administrative tasks that help the Support Workers deliver vital services to young carers aged 5–25 years.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being organised, completing structured admin tasks, and working independently once trained. Your contribution will free up valuable staff time, enabling Support Workers to reach and assist more young carers across Solihull.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Book rooms and venues for group sessions and events.
- Contact families to chase outstanding paperwork (e.g. GDPR consent forms).
- Input and update data on our simple database and spreadsheets (e.g. digital reviews).
- Source and confirm facilitators for upcoming sessions or workshops.
- Retrieve and record key information from our internal systems.
- Send bulk communications such as text reminders or event updates.
- Confirm venues, schools, and families are expecting Support Workers prior to visits.
- Order, replenish, and organise resources and supplies.
- Collate and send welcome packs to young carers.
- Arrange appointments with families for assessments and reviews.
- Carry out other administrative duties as discussed and agreed.
Preferred Skills and Qualities
- Minimum of 1 years’ administrative experience in a work or voluntary setting.
- Confidence to work independently, with ongoing support available.
- Comfortable making phone calls and communicating with families.
- Experience with databases, Microsoft Word, and Excel; quick to learn new systems.
- Highly organised, reliable, and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with a positive attitude and willingness to help.
- Passionate about providing a high-quality service for young carers.
