Looking for friendly volunteers to help us collect and recycle Christmas trees. Every tree you collect helps raise funds for bereaved children and families

The holiday season, with its big build up in the shops and in the media, can be an especially painful time for those who are grieving, so your support at this time of year is greatly needed. It’s a hands-on, feel-good role that keeps you active and connected with your community.

Roles:

We have two different roles available:

Driver volunteer role

What you will be doing:

  • You'll be behind the wheel, following a pre-planned route with another volunteer to assist you
  • You'll be collecting trees along this route from outside of properties, loading them into the vehicle and delivering them to designated recycling points
  • Completing compliance checks and maintaining your vehicle to the standard requirement

Assistant volunteer role

What you will be doing:

  • You'll be collecting trees along a pre-planned route from outside of properties, loading them into your vehicle and delivering them to designated recycling points
  • Assisting your driver with directions

Locations:

  • Sutton Coldfield
  • Aldridge

Details of postcodes to follow

Dates:

  • 14th and 15th January 2027
  • Mop up session on 19th January 2027

  • Minimum age of 21 for driver role; 18 for assistant role
  • Have held a full driving license for at least two years (driver role only)
  • Good level of fitness and mobility - manual handling will be a core part of this role
  • Good communication skills
  • Someone who enjoys being part of a team
  • Commitment to undertake any training and briefings required for the role

Additionally, if you have access to a vehicle that could be used to transport the trees, please let us know!

What you'll get out of it:

  • Full training and support throughout your role
  • Travel expenses reimbursed (according to our Expenses Policy)
