Create engaging social media posts for DeafReach and help more people support deaf and deafblind young people in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Purpose of the role
Help DeafReach share the work of our partners and reach more supporters. We support deaf and deafblind children and young people in Sub-Saharan Africa through education, employment and community initiatives.
You’ll join a small, friendly volunteer team and use your skills to help more people understand and support this far reaching and life changing work.
What you’ll do
- Create posts in Canva using partner updates, photographs, stories, website content and material prepared by our copywriters.
- Plan and schedule regular content across our social media channels.
- Support fundraising appeals and other communications.
- Monitor comments and messages, responding where agreed and referring queries to the team.
- Review what works and suggest improvements.
What we’re looking for
- At least three years’ professional experience in social media, marketing or communications.
- Clear, engaging writing and experience creating social media content.
- Confident using Canva to create attractive, accessible social media posts.
- Enthusiasm for DeafReach’s work and a commitment to following through on agreed tasks.
- Someone who takes initiative, ownership, enjoys sharing ideas and is comfortable organising their own work without close supervision.
- A reliable, collaborative approach.
- Experience with scheduling tools would be helpful.
Support and expectations
You’ll receive an introduction to our work, access to the tools you need and support from the communications team. We’ll agree clear priorities, with room for you to take ownership of the day-to-day social media work.
Follow DeafReach’s policies, tone of voice and agreed content approval process, asking the communications team for guidance when needed.
What success looks like
Regular, engaging and accessible posts; good communication within the team; and learning from results to reach more people and encourage support.
We have a lot of brilliant work happening, we just need to tell more people about it! If we’re posting on social media regularly this role will be seen as a success.
