We are looking for an individual who can engage with our day service members and encourage them to be involved in a variety of activities.
The Day Service volunteer’s main tasks:
- To assist the day service supervisor in arranging arts and craft group activities e.g. The making of Birthday/Christmas cards and decorations, bookmarks, small gifts and painting and drawing activities.
- Assisting members with entries into ExtraCare competitions
- To assist the Activity Coordinator in arranging physical activities and games e.g., bowls, table tennis and Wii in communal areas
- Encouraging and assisting members to partake in activities of their choice
- Organising and leading activities
- To assist with refreshments
- To liaise with members to identify which activities they are interested in
Key skills needed for this role:
- Enjoys communicating with and spending time with people, particularly older people
- Demonstrates patience and understanding
- Trustworthy, honest, and reliable with effective time management skills
- Works well in a team and one to one
This role does not include the following tasks:
- Personal care tasks
- Administering medication
- Advice or support in relation to a person’s financial affairs
- No transferring (manual handling) of residents
Training and Development:
- Accessing training required to carry out the role and to further personal development
- Accumulating relevant work experience
- Direction and support to learn new skills
