The purpose of this role is to assist in the restaurant during mealtimes or to assist with the bar on evenings.
The Restaurant Volunteer’s main tasks:
- To assist with serving food and drinks to the residents and their visitors
- Assist with the cutting up of food if required
- Clearing tables and washing up
- Providing glasses and cutlery if required
- Cash handling and processing the payments for lunches and drinks
- Operating a till
- Keeping the restaurant area as tidy as possible and free from Health and Safety hazards
Key skills needed for this role:
- Pleasant, friendly personality, patient with a mature attitude.
- Trustworthy, honest, reliable.
- Ability to work in a team and under own initiative
This role does not include the following tasks:
- Personal care tasks
- Administering medication
- Advice or support in relation to a person’s financial affairs
- No transferring (manual handling) of residents
- Assisting residents to eat
Training and Development:
- Completion of a Food Hygiene Training course will be required (Organised by ExtraCare)
- Accessing training required to carry out the role and to further personal development
- Accumulating relevant work experience
- Direction and support
