We are looking for an individual who can engage with our residents and encourage them to be involved in activities inside and outside of the village.
The Volunteer Facilitator’s main tasks:
- To assist the Activity Coordinator in facilitating activities and games e.g. Poetry, Crafts ,Wood working, Bingo (bingo support volunteer),Pub quiz ,Table tennis, Darts in communal areas
- Encouraging and assisting residents to partake in activities of their choice
- Organising and leading activities
- To assist with refreshments
- To liaise with residents to identify which activities they are interested in
- To record information of activities attended by which resident
Key skills needed for this role:
- Enjoys communicating with and spending time with people, particularly older people
- Demonstrates patience and understanding
- Trustworthy, honest and reliable with effective time management skills
- Works well in a team and one to one
This role does not include the following tasks:
- Personal care tasks
- Administering medication
- Advice or support in relation to a person’s financial affairs
- No transferring (manual handling) of residents
Training and Development:
- Accessing training required to carry out the role and to further personal development
- Accumulating relevant work experience
- Direction and support
