Your primary responsibility will be to deliver counselling sessions to unpaid Carers who are part of Forward Carers’ BEAM project.

Volunteer Counselling Support for Forward Carers 

Role Title: Volunteer Counsellor 

Location: Harborne and/or Selly Oak, Birmingham 

Time Commitment: minimum of 2 hours per week

Purpose: 

As a volunteer counsellor, you will play a crucial role in supporting our non-profit social enterprise's mission to improve unpaid Carers wellbeing. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver counselling sessions to unpaid Carers who are part of Forward Carers’ BEAM (Building Emotional Awareness and Mental-health) project. 

Key Responsibilities:

 1.Contact Carers who have been deemed suitable following triage through the project manager.

 2.Book and deliver 6 x 1 to 1 counselling sessions either face-to-face in Harborne and/Selly Oak, or remotely.

 3.Maintain accurate client notes via our secure CRM system. 4.Respect and maintain the confidentiality of clients.

 5.Report any safeguarding concerns to the project manager/safeguarding lead. 

6.Attend regular casework supervision (not provided by Forward Carers).

7.Attend and actively participate in any training sessions provided to enhance your understanding of our organisation, the needs of Carers, and our overall mission. 

Person Specification: 

1.Qualified to a minimum level 4 in counselling skills and have completed at least 100 counselling hours

 2.Membership of a recognised professional body, such as BACP or NCPS 

3.Reliable, responsible, and committed to the goals of our organisation.

 4.Commit to a minimum of 2 hours per week.

 5.Upon successful completion of your volunteer role (6 months or more),we are willing to act as a referee for any job applications you may have. 

Application Process: Interested applicants should complete the volunteer application form and submit it to Forward Carers, along with a brief statement explaining why they would like to volunteer in this role.
