Summary

Would you like to come and help out at Stirchley Library's garden activity? We are looking for people who love nature and stories!

Detailed description

We will be running an activity in the garden behind Stirchley Library on 31 May between 10am and 1pm. We will be identifying plants in the garden using both an app downloadable onto phones, and paper prompts for those who prefer. Inside, there will be an activity for participants of all ages to tell their own garden story, which will then be used to name the parts of the garden.

We would like volunteers to help either indoors or outdoors. A good understanding of plants and nature is useful, but not essential.

About Friends of Stirchley Library

Friends of Stirchley Library (FOSL) support the library services within the existing library building in Stirchley, Birmingham. What started out as a campaign group to keep the library open in the face of closure has grown into a ‘Friends of’ group and we have developed a volunteer network to support library services, to extend opening hours, and assist provision of broader library-based activity.

FOSL support the library staff to ensure that the library is welcoming, educational, sustainable, accessible and inclusive. We work closely with Birmingham City Council and other partners to offer support for services provided by Stirchley Library.

We also work with local groups and organisations to deliver a growing range of events and activities with broad community appeal. FOSL have established relationships with other community organisations in the region, and always welcome opportunities to forge new partnerships.
