What is Social Prescribing? At its most simple, social prescribing is a way to connect people to practical and emotional support in their communities and beyond
We are particularly looking to recruit an administrative volunteer to support the day to day admin functions of the Social Prescribing service.
It does require someone who is proficient with Microsoft Office and it's functions, in particular excel, outlook, word plus a case management system which if reasonable computer literate this will be of ease.
We would like someone who can commit regularly. A couple of mornings or afternoons per week would be ideal and we can be flexible around which to suit you. It will include sometime spent in the office in Harborne, plus remote volunteering and maybe attending events, and out in the community occasionally.
The role will be varied and make a difference to you as a volunteer and to those you might be supporting/assisting.
If you are artist/creative we also have an opportunity to support a Social Prescribing arts and crafts group in Solihull - this is in addition to this role.
Is this you?
- An interest in working with and for people over the age of 18+
- The ability to work with people from all backgrounds
- Be able to communicate with a non-judgmental approach, show empathy, actively listen
- Trustworthy, approachable, and reliable
- The ability to effectively and to build and maintain good relationships
- Maintain confidentiality
- Be flexible and adaptable to change
- Continue our commitment to deliver a high level of service
- Internal systems - TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED
- Participate in induction, initial and ongoing training
- Occasional attendance at internal team meetings and social activities (if desired)
- Undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check
What you will gain:
- Relevant and ongoing training as required to be able to complete the tasks given
- An opportunity to make a positive difference in your community
- A reference after 12 months of volunteering
- Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses
- New friends and new experiences
