Make a real difference in just one hour a week — become a volunteer mentor in a local school with Mentor Link.
Children and young people across Dudley and the West Midlands are facing challenges that leave them feeling worried, isolated or unsure of themselves. Mentor Link, a long‑established children’s charity, provides vital emotional support through 1‑to‑1 mentoring in local schools — and we’re looking for caring adults to join us.
If you’re someone who believes every young person deserves to feel heard, valued and supported, this role is for you.
What You’ll Do: As a Volunteer Mentor, you’ll meet with a young person once a week during term time, offering: • A safe, calm space where they can talk openly • Encouragement, reassurance and a listening ear • Support to help them build confidence and set positive goals • Guidance towards helpful information, opportunities or next steps • Stability at a time when they may not have anyone else to turn to.
You’ll be fully trained and supported by Mentor Link staff, including safeguarding guidance, regular check‑ins and access to additional development opportunities.
Who We’re Looking For: You don’t need qualifications — just the right qualities: • A good listener • Patient, kind and non‑judgmental • Reliable and able to commit weekly • Someone who genuinely wants to help a young person thrive
If you can show up consistently and offer empathy, you can change a life.
What’s Required: • Aged 18+ • Two-character references • Enhanced DBS check • Commitment of 1 hour per week in school for at least 6 months
Why Volunteer with Mentor Link? Volunteering with us is meaningful, rewarding and deeply impactful. You’ll: • Help a young person feel less alone • See their confidence grow week by week • Gain new skills and experience • Be part of a supportive, friendly charity team • Make a lasting difference in your local community
Many mentors say it’s the most fulfilling hour of their week.
Ready to Make a Difference? We’d love to hear from you.
