Bearwood Rock Collective is a community rock band for adults of all abilities - the Volunteer Session Assistant is the engine that keeps the music playing!
Who are we?
Bearwood Rock Collective is a community rock band for adults of all abilities. Whether they play an instrument or sing, our members meet every Thursday to learn rock and pop classics in a fun, supportive environment. For us, it’s all about the joy of making music together!
The Role: What’s Involved?
As our Volunteer Session Assistant, you are the engine that keeps the music playing! You’ll work alongside our Professional Music Leader to ensure every rehearsal runs like clockwork.
● Set the Room: Help arrange the space and get the technical equipment ready for the band.
● The Front of House: Be the first friendly face members see! You’ll greet people, hand out name labels, and manage the register.
● Member Subs: Handle quick and easy payments (cash and card) from our members using a simple smartphone app.
● Community Connector: Chat with our members, help new joiners settle in, and share feedback with our leadership team.
Bonus: Join the Band! Love to play or sing? Once the admin and setup are done, you’re more than welcome to pick up an instrument or join in—though there’s zero pressure if you’d rather just enjoy the music from the sidelines.
Commitment & Expenses
We are looking for a reliable "regular" to join our community.
● Availability: Thursday evenings during Sandwell School term times (we take a break during school holidays).
● Consistency: Ideally, you’ll be available for 80% of sessions.
● Job Share: We are also open to two volunteers sharing the role on an alternate-week basis.
● Expenses: We offer up to £10 per session to cover your travel costs.
Why Get Involved?
● Learn New Skills: Gain experience in event support and basic music tech.
● Boost Your CV: Perfect for those looking for experience in arts administration or community work.
● Give Back: Support a local project that brings people together through music.
● The Vibes: Join a legendary, friendly group of people!
