Fundraiser for a reading charity

Many people are too embarrassed to admit their difficulties and very few feel able to join an adult education class due to previous experiences of failure at school.

Your fundraising will enable Read Easy Birmingham South West to offer an accessible, community-based approach to helping adults learn to read. You will be a key part of our functionality.  

The fundraiser will research community grants and fundraising opportunities in Birmingham and the West Midlands and will submit applications to attain a budget of up to £5,000 a year. Although this is not compulsory, the fundraiser can also be a member of our Read Easy Birmingham South West Management Team attending 8 meetings a year, and helping with joint decisions on the running of our local group.

We are looking for:

• Knowledge and previous experience of fundraising.
• A willingness to seek out potential sources of funding.
• Experience of writing funding bids.
• Great people skills, approachable and friendly.
• Organised, methodical and reliable.
• Good negotiating and influencing skills.
• A non-judgemental attitude and respect for others.
• Time, energy and enthusiasm.
• A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures.
• The confidence to promote the work of Read Easy and a strong commitment to improving the lives of people who struggle with reading.
• The ability to use initiative, work independently and to work well as part of a team.
