IT Supporter

What you will be doing

• Using coaching and mentoring skills you will be on hand to support our reading coaches and management team with tasks like setting up email accounts and using video calling software
• Overseeing permissions and access to the secure online document storage system which is essential to our smooth-running
• Attending Management Team meetings, typically every month

A successful candidate will have:

• Confidence in using IT and experience of using a range of devices and software, specifically including Zoom and Microsoft teams
• Excellent coaching and mentoring skills including patience and the ability to understand the perspective of non-experts who need support to build their confidence and understanding of the systems they are using
• An open attitude that encourages two-way communication and willingness to ask for and offer support to the team 
• A non-judgmental attitude and respect for others, with a commitment to equality and diversity, so that you can make everyone feel valued and included
• A willingness to abide by Read Easy policies and procedures
• Energy and enthusiasm with a commitment to 2-3 hours per week maximum but on a flexible basis, either in person or online

What difference you will make:

We currently support 24 reading pairs and have great potential to expand as we are committed to supporting as many adults as possible.  In the West Midlands 22% of adults of working age struggle to read (1 in 5).  By supporting and mentoring our volunteer team members to develop their IT skills you will develop those skills and build their confidence, enabling them to work more effectively and efficiently.
