Could you befriend a refugee or an asylum seeker, to reduce isolation and help them settle into life in the UK?

Volunteers meet with a refugee or asylum seeker about once a fortnight to offer the opportunity to share together, develop English language skills, explain British systems and culture, visit places of interest and signpost to other services. Many of those with whom we work can build relationships with others from their own background, but befriending is a bridge into the wider community in the UK.

All volunteers must attend one of our training courses before befriending, and after this course then decide whether to apply to volunteer. Our next training course will be held on 7th June at St John's Church, Harbone. The course will begin at 9.45am for refreshments and registration, with the first session commencing at 10am. The last session will end at 4pm. If you are interested in attending this, please complete our application form and we will be in touch.
