Detailed description

The Community Support Advisor delivers person-centred support to individuals who may be experiencing social isolation, low confidence, or reduced wellbeing. The role focuses on building trusted relationships and creating opportunities for meaningful connection through telephone befriending, one-to-one mentoring, and facilitated friendship groups.

Through regular befriending calls, the Advisor provides emotional support, active listening, and companionship, helping individuals feel heard, valued, and less alone. One-to-one mentoring sessions are tailored to personal goals, supporting individuals to build confidence, develop coping strategies, improve independence, and access appropriate services or community opportunities.

The Advisor also organises and facilitates friendship groups that promote peer support, shared experiences, and social interaction in a safe and inclusive environment. These groups help participants develop friendships, strengthen social networks, and increase community engagement.
