Support local people by providing a friendly listening ear, signposting individuals to local services, assisting with community activities, and residents

Main Responsibilities

  • Welcome and support members of the public in a friendly, respectful, and non-judgemental manner.
  • Listen to people's concerns and identify where they may need additional support.
  • Provide information and signpost individuals to local services, including health, wellbeing, housing, employment, education, benefits, food support, and community activities.
  • Assist with community events, outreach sessions, workshops, and wellbeing activities.
  • Help people complete basic forms or access online services where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of volunteer activities.
  • Work closely with staff, volunteers, and partner organisations to ensure individuals receive the support they need.
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and community engagement in all aspects of the role.

Skills and Qualities

  • Friendly, approachable, and compassionate.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Respectful of people from all backgrounds and cultures.
  • Basic IT skills are helpful but not essential.
  • Willingness to learn and undertake training.
