Support local people by providing a friendly listening ear, signposting individuals to local services, assisting with community activities, and residents
Main Responsibilities
- Welcome and support members of the public in a friendly, respectful, and non-judgemental manner.
- Listen to people's concerns and identify where they may need additional support.
- Provide information and signpost individuals to local services, including health, wellbeing, housing, employment, education, benefits, food support, and community activities.
- Assist with community events, outreach sessions, workshops, and wellbeing activities.
- Help people complete basic forms or access online services where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of volunteer activities.
- Work closely with staff, volunteers, and partner organisations to ensure individuals receive the support they need.
- Promote equality, inclusion, and community engagement in all aspects of the role.
Skills and Qualities
- Friendly, approachable, and compassionate.
- Good listening and communication skills.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Respectful of people from all backgrounds and cultures.
- Basic IT skills are helpful but not essential.
- Willingness to learn and undertake training.
