We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and passionate Community & Events Lead to help develop and deliver inclusive community events for disabled people

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and passionate Community & Events Lead to help develop and deliver inclusive community events for disabled people across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

You will help bring people together, reduce social isolation and create welcoming spaces where disabled people can connect, make friends and feel part of their community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Community Events: Plan, organise and support accessible disability meet-ups, social activities and community events.
  • Event Development: Bring creative ideas for new activities and opportunities based on what our community wants.
  • Accessibility & Inclusion: Help ensure events are welcoming, inclusive and accessible to people with different disabilities and support needs.
  • Volunteer Support: Coordinate and support volunteers helping to organise, host and deliver events.
  • Community Engagement: Build positive relationships with attendees, local groups, venues and community partners.
  • Feedback & Evaluation: Gather feedback from attendees and volunteers, evaluate events and identify improvements.
  • Planning & Coordination: Help manage event arrangements, communication, attendance and future activities.

Who We're Looking For

Someone who is:

  • Passionate about supporting disabled people and strengthening communities.
  • Friendly, approachable, organised and a good communicator.
  • Creative and enthusiastic about planning community activities.
  • Confident supporting and encouraging volunteers.
  • Committed to accessibility, inclusion and listening to community feedback.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.

Experience in community work or events is helpful but not essential. We particularly welcome people with lived experience of disability.

Why Join Us?

At West Midlands Disability Action, we believe everyone deserves opportunities to connect, feel included and enjoy their community.

This is an opportunity to make a real difference by helping disabled people build friendships, confidence and meaningful social connections.
