A Disability Support Mentor provides person-centred support, coaching, and companionship to disabled individuals, helping them overcome barriers.
A Disability Support Mentor provides person-centred support, coaching, mentoring, and companionship to disabled individuals, helping them build confidence, independence, and life skills.
The role involves:
- Offering emotional support and building trusting relationships
- Delivering goal-focused coaching to develop skills such as organisation, communication, and confidence
- Providing mentoring and guidance to support long-term personal development
- Reducing isolation through companionship and community engagement
- Assisting with practical tasks such as appointments, forms, and accessing services
- Promoting independence, choice, and self-advocacy
The mentor works in a person-centred, strengths-based way, empowering individuals to overcome barriers and participate fully in their community.
