The Support Trainer / Mentor plays a key role in delivering high-quality support to both clients and volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support
- Deliver one-to-one mentoring and support sessions for clients.
- Welcome new clients and support them through their first sessions.
- Help clients develop confidence, independence, and achieve their personal goals.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records.
- Escalate any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns appropriately.
Volunteer Training and Support
- Deliver inductions for new volunteers.
- Provide training on mentoring, listening skills, safeguarding, boundaries, and organisational procedures.
- Support volunteers as they begin working with clients.
- Offer ongoing coaching, guidance, and feedback to help volunteers develop their skills.
- Organise refresher training and continuous learning opportunities.
Volunteer Coordination
- Be the first point of contact for volunteer questions, concerns, and day-to-day support.
- Build positive relationships with volunteers and encourage their continued development.
- Monitor volunteer wellbeing and provide additional support where needed.
- Help ensure volunteers feel confident, valued, and supported in their roles.
Service Delivery
- Step in to provide mentoring sessions when volunteer cover is unavailable or additional support is required.
- Support the coordination team to ensure clients continue receiving consistent support.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high-quality services.
- Promote person-centred, inclusive, and compassionate support across all programmes.
Skills and Experience
- Experience supporting people within disability, health, social care, or community services.
- Experience delivering training, mentoring, coaching, or volunteer support.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and support both clients and volunteers.
- Lived experience of disability or experience working alongside disabled people is highly valued.
