The Wellbeing Officer supports the wellbeing of volunteers across the organisation, helping volunteers feel supported, valued and able to manage their volunteer

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide wellbeing support, mentoring and guidance to volunteers.
  • Offer planned wellbeing mentoring sessions or ad hoc support when appropriate.
  • Provide a safe and supportive space for volunteers to talk about how they are feeling and any difficulties affecting their volunteering.
  • Help volunteers identify activities, opportunities and practical approaches that may support their wellbeing.
  • Promote positive wellbeing, confidence, inclusion and engagement among volunteers.
  • Regularly check in with volunteers about their wellbeing and how they are finding their volunteering role.
  • Identify when a volunteer may need additional support and liaise with the appropriate line manager or staff member.
  • Encourage volunteers to take appropriate breaks, manage workloads and maintain healthy boundaries around volunteering.
  • Support volunteers to access relevant activities, groups, services or signposting where this may benefit their wellbeing.
  • Work alongside Volunteer Coordinators, Support Coordinators and line managers to ensure volunteers receive appropriate support.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality and follow organisational safeguarding, wellbeing and support procedures.
  • Keep appropriate records of wellbeing support provided, in line with organisational requirements.
  • Help develop and promote volunteer wellbeing activities, initiatives and opportunities across the organisation.
