Summary

Boldmere Summer Festival – Sutton Coldfield’s largest non-sporting event attracting over 10,000 people.

Detailed description

The festival takes place from 1pm to 6pm and volunteers are needed to help transform the street into a festival zone and then return it to a public street again. We also need volunteers to help with marshalling the event. Volunteers in the past have always commented on what a great day they have had and the community spirit that they experienced.

We are looking for 40 volunteers throughout the day to support the EVENT. We welcome anyone to come along and volunteer with us, no experience is necessary as we will provide all training on the day.

We are seeking volunteers to carry out the following roles:

  • Setup – putting up gazebos, positioning crowd control barriers and bins and ad hoc tasks.

  • Entrances Meet & Greet – welcoming people to the festival, taking and encouraging payments for voluntary entrance donation (requires mobile phone – we provide app and card hardware), answering queries about the festival.

  • Volunteer desk – to be available at the volunteer gazebo to sign in volunteers, distribute hi-vis, look after volunteer belongings, deal with ad-hoc tasks. When not needed for this role, volunteers will be assigned to entrances.

  • Set down – taking down gazebos, removing crowd control barriers and ad hoc tasks.

Multiple roles can be carried out by the same person or different people.

Please contact us separately if you live locally to Boldmere and would be interested in joining our organising team.

We can be flexible with timing, but below is an indication of the time we would need volunteers for:

  • Setup – 09:00 – 12:00
  • Entrances Meet & Greet – 12:00 – 17:30
  • Volunteer desk – 09:00 – 13:30 and 13:30 to 20:30
  • Set down – 17:00 – 20:30

We are happy to be flexible within these times and are more than happy for people to volunteer for multiple shifts including the full 11.5 hours

Roles require physical ability to stand for up to 2 hours at a time, although we do have four roles for administratively competent volunteers that would not require as much standing but would require mobility. Entrances & marshals roles require confidence interacting with members of the public. If helping at the entrances, we take cash and card voluntary entrance fees. All payment equipment is provided.

About Boldmere Futures CIC & Boldmere Festivals

We are the community coming together to promote and improve the social, cultural, economic and environmental well-being of the Boldmere Neighbourhood Area which is also known as the Boldmere B73 Cultural Action Area.

We do this through organising street festivals in the summer and at Christmas, bringing cultural events such as the Bulls in the City to Boldmere, preparing a community plan and looking for opportunities to improve the environment in which we live with an emphasis on cuture and art.
