The priority for this role is supporting our monthly Community Cooking Club at Allens Cross Community Association and other projects across Birmingham city.

Building Greener Communities is an exciting ecobirmingham project helping residents across Birmingham make positive changes for themselves, their communities and the environment. Through practical activities, events and workshops, we support people to live healthier, greener and more connected lives. 

We're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic volunteer to become part of our team and support our community activities. 

Our main volunteer opportunity 

The priority for this role is supporting our monthly Community Cooking Club at Allens Cross Community Association, 24 Tinkers Farm Rd, Northfield, Birmingham B31 1RH 

Time commitment 

  • One Friday afternoon per month  
  • 12:30pm – 3:30pm (3 hours)  

Upcoming dates 

  • Friday 14th August  
  • Friday 11th September  
  • Friday 9th October  
  • Friday 13th November  
  • Friday 11th December  
  • Friday 8th January  

What you'll be doing 

You'll be helping to create a welcoming and enjoyable session for local residents by: 

  • Welcoming and engaging participants  
  • Assisting the cooking facilitator with setting up and packing away  
  • Preparing and serving refreshments  
  • Helping collect participant surveys and testimonials  
  • Taking photographs of sessions  
  • Supporting the team to ensure everyone has a positive experience  

Other opportunities 

As part of the Building Greener Communities project, there may also be opportunities to support other community activities throughout the year. 

Who we're looking for 

We're looking for someone who is: 

  • Friendly and approachable  
  • Confident talking to people from all backgrounds  
  • Reliable and able to commit to the monthly Cooking Club sessions  
  • Passionate about community wellbeing and sustainability

Any special conditions
