Chris' story: Finding purpose again with Age Connects West Midlands

"Having retired from running my own business for 27 years, I felt that having also been ill for 2 years and regained my health, that I needed a purpose to not only help my continued recovery, but to also help other people who need support and guidance for which there have been many.
"Age Connects West Midlands [previously Age Concern Birmingham] has provided that opportunity whereby I have been able to not only use my skills but also learn new ones.
"Volunteering at Age Connects West Midlands has enabled me to make a difference to people who need my support, and given me the opportunity to give back to the community I live within, and to make a real difference in people’s lives.
"Volunteering at Age Connects has helped me regain my confidence, and expand my network with likeminded people. It also boosts wellbeing, reduces stress, and gives a sense of purpose and belonging.
"Volunteering at Age Connects was the best thing I could have done."
