Summary

Friendly disability meet-up for adults, carers and supporters. Social activities, workshops, local support info, and refreshments in a welcoming space.

Detailed description

Volunteers are essential in helping create a welcoming, safe, and well-organised environment for the Ability & Belonging Disability Meet-Up. The event supports disabled adults, along with carers and support people, to connect socially, take part in activities, and access local support in a relaxed setting.

Volunteer roles may include welcoming and guiding attendees on arrival, helping to manage the car park, and supporting the help desk by answering questions or directing people to activities and services. Volunteers may also assist with setting up tables, supporting group activities or workshops, serving refreshments, and offering friendly conversation.

Volunteers help ensure attendees feel comfortable, included, and supported throughout the event. No specialist experience is required; kindness, patience, and good communication are most important. Clear guidance will be provided on the day, and volunteers are not expected to provide personal care.

The meet-up takes place on Saturday 31st January 2026, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm, at St Chad’s Church, Rubery.
