Detailed description
The Co-Chair works alongside the Chair to provide shared strategic leadership and strong governance for the organisation. The role supports the organisation’s mission to tackle isolation, promote inclusion, and ensure disabled people’s voices are central to decision-making.
The Co-Chair plays a key role in guiding the organisation’s development, including progressing the group toward Community Interest Company (CIC) status. This involves supporting governance arrangements, strengthening structures, and helping ensure the organisation is legally compliant, sustainable, and community-focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for board leadership and strategic direction
- Support effective governance, safeguarding, and accountability
- Champion inclusion, accessibility, and lived-experience leadership
- Support and deputise for the Chair when required
- Contribute to progressing the organisation to CIC status, including governance and compliance
- Support development of policies, structures, and sustainable operations
- Represent the organisation with partners, funders, and the wider community
- Encourage meaningful participation of disabled people at all levels
