The Royal Air Force Museum was established in 1972 as a legacy of the RAF’s fiftieth anniversary. Today we have two public sites in London and Cosford, and a third site which houses our reserve collection in Stafford. Our purpose is to share the story of the Royal Air Force, past, present and future – using the stories of its people and our collections in order to engage, inspire and encourage learning. We have 1.3 million items in our collection which we hold in trust for the people of the UK. We are an educational charity with a vision to inspire everyone with the RAF story - the people who shape it and its place in our lives. Our volunteers donate their time and enthusiasm in almost every department in our museum and at all three of our sites.
