Can you use your organisational and governance skills to support our vital campaigns & thriving community building by becoming our Society Secretary?

Birmingham Friends of the Earth are recruiting for a Society Secretary.

BFoE exists to promote positive environmental change. As well as campaigning on vital local to global issues we have a thriving community building, The Warehouse in Digbeth, which is a space for activists, non-profits and green businesses.

Campaigns activity is delegated to our thriving campaigns group, which meets weekly, so the Board's work is mainly on governance of the organisation as a whole and ensuring the operation of the building meets our objectives. The Society Secretary, like a Company Secretary, is responsible for ensuring the organisation abides by good governance and acts in accordance with its Rules (constitution). In practice, this is usually an oversight and advice role as senior staff take care of tasks such as writing annual reports.

We're seeking someone with environmental commitment, a cooperative nature, and experience of governance within a cooperative, non-profit or membership organisation.

Interested? Or know someone else who might be? You can read more about this on our website, or if you can't find that (we are not permitted to include the link here for some reason) please use the Apply button and we can point you in the right direction.
