We need a volunteer coordinator to help us turn our many sign ups into a smaller but committed set of volunteers to support our community and remote teams.
As an organisation with forward thinking we've been lucky to attract a lot of volunteers to both our community and remote teams.
One of our major challenges is the high numbers of sign-ups, and even people who attend initial inductions who then fail to show up to key actions when it really counts, letting down our service users.
We need a volunteer coordinator who's happy to spend at least three hours a week engaging with the different sign-ups we have and getting them to inductions and through any required vetting processes.
We are currently have a freelance caseworker who has developed a training scheme on advocacy and as a first task we need to find some better ways to recruit, filter for the less committed, train and clear volunteers to support local. Whilst we have limited funds and aren't in a position to hire staff, we have a lot of resources and internal skills that can support any of your efforts, including automations we've set up to send emails and add people to lists and dashboards, which we can refine based on your ideas.
Outside of the community team project, we also have a number of remote teams which require both highly skilled and committed volunteers and time taken out of their work by the team leads can hold back their work, so we're keen volunteers joining fully understand we're not able to function as casually as some other organisation do.
Overall the charity is proving itself locally in Birmingham, with a mission to role out our services, especially our app, which would eventually give real-time data on poverty (currently reported every 5-6 years in England) that should lead to fundamental changes.
You will report directly to the board of trustees, likely via Duncan Catterall-Mason but may need to speak to the other team leads when they have specific recruitment needs. This role can be done remotely but would prefer someone familiar with Birmingham at this stage. You will need to have a basic DBS and ID check in order to do this role. As we will only appoint one person to this role we will try to speak to interested people 1-2-1 before you start.
