Do you enjoy bringing people together, encouraging creativity, and helping others build confidence?

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and experienced volunteer to help facilitate our weekly Create & Connect group.

The group provides a welcoming space for people to meet, make friends, share skills, and enjoy creative activities together. Our aim is to improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and build a stronger, more connected community.

Activities may include arts and crafts, knitting, crochet, card making, painting, drawing, sewing, singing, music, and mindfulness.

We are working towards making the group more community-led, with participants sharing their own talents, ideas, and interests.

What Will You Do?

    • Welcome participants and help create a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
    • Register attendees and support the smooth running of sessions.
    • Listen to people's ideas, interests, and suggestions.
    • Help the group plan and organise different creative activities.
    • Encourage participants to share their skills and lead activities.
    • Coordinate creative resources with the staff team.
    • Support participants to develop confidence and try new things.
    • Work alongside professional artists when they lead sessions.
    • Help the group become more independent and community-led over time.

What Skills Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who:

    • Has experience facilitating groups or working with people in a community setting.
    • Has good listening and communication skills.
    • Is enthusiastic, friendly, and welcoming.
    • Is organised and has good planning skills.
    • Can encourage and support others to share their ideas and lead activities.
    • Has a creative interest or some experience with arts and crafts (desirable).
    • Is passionate about bringing people together and reducing social isolation.
    • Is interested in making a longer-term commitment and contributing to a thriving neighbourhood.

You don't need to be an expert in arts and crafts. Being able to encourage others, listen, and help people feel confident and included is much more important.

What Support Will You Receive?

You will receive an induction and ongoing support from Annabel Wrangles, who will initially co-facilitate sessions with you.

There will be a gradual handover, giving you time to build confidence and take on more responsibility as you become familiar with the group.

You will also work alongside other volunteers and staff members who support the sessions.

Interested in Volunteering?

If you enjoy bringing people together, supporting creativity, and helping others feel connected to their community, we would love to hear from you!

This is a rewarding opportunity to use your skills and experience to make a lasting difference in people's lives and help build a welcoming, creative, and thriving neighbourhood.
