Do you enjoy being outdoors, meeting people, and exploring your local area? We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help co-lead our weekly walking group

Our walking group aims to improve physical health and wellbeing, reduce social isolation, and give people the opportunity to connect with others and enjoy nature.

You will work alongside another volunteer to help make our weekly walks welcoming, enjoyable, and accessible for everyone.

What Will You Do?

    • Help welcome participants and take the register.
    • Co-lead a small group on a 45-minute local walk.
    • Help ensure the group's safety by following the activity risk assessment.
    • Chat with participants and encourage social interaction.
    • Support and encourage people to get involved in the walks.
    • Help organise refreshments and social time after the walk.
    • Work alongside the existing walk leader and other volunteers.

What Skills Are We Looking For?

We are looking for someone who:

    • Enjoys being outdoors and walking.
    • Is confident finding their way around the local area.
    • Is physically able to walk approximately 1–2 miles.
    • Is comfortable leading and supporting a small group on a gentle walk.
    • Is reliable, organised, and able to arrive on time.
    • Has a friendly and enthusiastic approach.
    • Enjoys encouraging others to get involved and feel welcome.

What Support and Training Will You Receive?

You will receive an induction and ongoing support from Annabel Wrangles, who oversees the walking group.

As part of your induction, you will:

    • Be introduced to the local walking routes.
    • Go through the activity risk assessment and safety guidance.
    • Have the opportunity to undertake walk leader training.
    • Have access to First Aid training.

You will work alongside the existing volunteer walk leader.

Interested in Volunteering?

If you enjoy walking, meeting people, and helping others stay active and connected, we would love to hear from you!
